Practicing medical were not easy on those days, Yet Joe took the challenge and got the seat into the best universities which he dreamt into. The first day went on with usual introductions, induction programme and the rules to be followed inside the campus. The whole week passed on with boring lectures, as all were keen to enter into practical.
The second week came on, before the session started, 'Excuse me Sir', a sweet voice entered into the class, nobody moved an inch of their eyes, and her name was Annie, with round eyes, wearing pink colored dress , sleeveless which added to her beauty. Joe, felt something unusual, something he has never experienced in his entire life, kept on watching the girl until she came and sat beside him.
The session was over for the day and hardly Joe would have spoken to her some few words. He couldn't sleep that night, thinking all the night about her looks and the voice which was haunting all over his body. Days passed by and both had become good friends, sharing each and everything between them. Annie as an extrovert, behaved quite well with everyone, helped Joe in his chores irrelevant of studies or other issues.
But, it was Joe who had become troublesome, the day he saw Annie, he couldn't sleep nor eat well, Is it love?, or just infatuation, he keeps asking himself this question several times and was not up to a solution. He thought, thought and decided it must be love as he was ready to do anything for her, her love! But, had a doubt whether Annie would be having the same kind of reaction as what he had what if she gets angry and would stop talking with him. The perseverance was going on in his mind and decided that he won't tell her of his love due to fear of losing her friendship.
On the other hand, Annie used to tell all her friends about Joe, her friendship with him, his advantages and the way he used to help her and share. The holiday season started which is a hard one for Joe, because he needs to be separated from Annie for a month. Annie never missed to visit her grandmother on holidays and decided to do the same. But, she made one thoughtful deed to Joe by giving her grandmother's telephone number and to call her in case of any emergency. It was always an emergency for Joe and he called up daily and was talking with her for hours.
The holidays passed by and the results were published, both has quite scored well on all subjects. Both went for some snacks to celebrate their score, 'Annie', called Joe, it would not been possible for me if u hadn't helped me in the subjects. He thanked Annie with heart most wishes. Annie on the other side was little furious and turned her face down, 'What happened ', Joe asked in a shaky voice. 'Why are u treating me like an outsider', Best friends never share a sorry or thanks. That was her response which strongly built the foundation on Joe not to express his love as Annie completely believed on pure friendship.
Years rolled on and they continued to be good friends, the time came where they must be separated. Few days after final examination, each one of them would be put on different places for training.
Both Annie and Joe were silent in their usual place of meeting for hours; neither could talk nor laugh as they know their time has come. After all these years of friendship, Annie for the first time asked Joe, 'What do you think of me?' , Joe was astonished and was searching for words to describe her, but couldn't talk anything , he said it in one word ' You are sweet '. Annie didn't expect this, a single word, that's it, all these years of relationship and he told one word, 'Sweet'. She couldn't control her emotions and started asking him to describe her more. She said, 'You are the only person who knows me better than the whole world.'
Tears rolled out of his eyes, Instead of Joe describing Annie, she started telling about Joe, the day they met, the impression she got on looking at Joe, the things they shared, the stupid things he had done. Hours passed by as the moment of separation came, both accepted the separation as it is a part of their life, but they felt something were missing among themselves. Joe was down to earth and was feeling like a hell in his heart. He neither could tell his emotions nor could destroy the friendship and was in a pathetic situation.
Annie hugged and wished him best and was leaving. When she hardly crossed few yards, she felt that Joe was about to tell her something. She turned and approached Joe and said, 'Did you miss anything'? Joe said to himself, 'I am not going to leave this opportunity, and decided to play in safer side. He asked straightforward to her, 'What would u do if I propose you at this moment'.
Annie's eyes got twirled; she didn't expect this kind of quotation from Joe. She said, is it real? Or else, are you playing with me. Joe was in a stronger position, he said, what would u have done if it was real and if it was a play on you?.
Annie was in a perfect situation, she said in an affirmative voice, I would have laughed if it was a play, and if it was real, a long pause came, and she smiled saying, I would have considered you for the rest of my life as I would never be able to get my friend as a husband.
That's enough, Joe was on the top of the earth, and he ran fast enough to hug her and kiss her. Tears rolled out on Joe's eyes and he hardly could talk. Annie was on the other hand felt the meaning of love for the first time, she actually wasn't love until the last second. But that long pause which made her to tell the answer, she was thinking all about Joe, and decided she will go for.
Though the person whom you love might not know about your love for long, one simple word or indication of likeness is far enough to change their mind and fall in love without you. It is not love at first sight, nor love due to friendship, but love on the sharing which two souls were doing without knowing that there exists some love…………………
